Curriculum

 BALLET TECHNIQUE, POINTE, PARTNERING, KINESIOLOGY, PILATES, MODERN, JAZZ, FLAMENCO, RUSSIAN DANCE, VARIATIONS, REPERTORY

 Intermediate and Advanced Levels daily
No audition required. Placement class is given the first day of classes.
Ages 10 and up (10-year olds must be intermediate level)
Teachers welcome
Short informal performance: demonstration of work taught throughout workshop
 

Fees

1 week: $250 tax included

2 weeks: $490 tax included

 Room & Board: $160/week tax included
(these private home slots are limited, so get application in early)

 $50 non-refundable deposit due with application
(to assure your place in class)

2008 Faculty

Antoinette PelosoANTOINETTE PELOSO has been a long-time member and principal dancer of The Metropolitan Opera Company in New York, where she has worked with many ballet luminaries includihng Alvin Ailey, George Balanchine, Antony Tudor, Natalia Makarova, Antony Dowell and Fernando Bujones. Born and raised in New Mexico, at 13 Antoinette won a spot in England's Royal Ballet School, where she received extensive training in classical and character techniques, including the Vaganova and Cechetti methods. After graduating with distinction, she returned to the U.S. and began dancing professionally in New York. She has appeared as a guest artist with companies across the U.S., dancing roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Les Sylphides, and Spartacus, among others.

Mel Tomlinson Mel Tomlinson was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended the North Carolina School for the Arts, studied in Italy in 1973 and received his BFA degree in 1974. He was a Guest Artist with the North Carolina Dance Theatre, a Principal Dancer with Agnes DeMille's Heritage Dance Theater, a member of Dance Theatre of Harlem, a Principal with Alvin Ailey's American Dance Theatre, a guest with the Joffrey Ballet, and a member of the New York City Ballet by invitation from George Balanchine. He has guested with Las Cruces Chamber Ballet, Florida Ballet, Jacques d'Amboise's National Dance Institute, North Carolina Repertory Dance Theatre and many others. He has studied and taught dance at the Boston School of Music, the Boston Conservatory for Music, Harvard University and UNC Charlotte. Mr. Tomlinson is a coach, teacher, speaker, choreographer, and dancewear designer, and is under the auspices of Michele's Dance Academy (directed by Michele and Kevin Self) in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
